In the 1980s, Il Cirmolo established itself in Milan as a go-to destination for those seeking rustic furniture, antiques, and that lived-in atmosphere that evokes stories of homes, hills, and craftsmanship. Over time, the urban context, emerging passions, and aesthetic sensibilities changed, and so did Il Cirmolo. When Matteo Giannelli took the helm of the shop (ideally succeeding the foundation laid by his father), he understood that customers were craving new inspirations, no longer just vintage wood furniture, but objects that evoke visual memory, logos, brands, lights, and colors.
In its Brera location, Il Cirmolo combines rustic furnishings with a selection of vintage signs (neon, enamel, and illuminated), period posters, and cult figurines. Thus, Mickey Mouse, comics, advertising signs, and metal letters coexist with iron furniture, historic ceramics, and other curious pieces. Each object is personally selected by Matteo, with a keen eye for beauty, storytelling, and authenticity.
Today Il Cirmolo is not "just" a shop: it is a dynamic, constantly evolving space that combines research, collecting, and the desire to shape new forms without losing its soul.
